  • The Restoration Opportunities Atlas has been created using the Global Forest Watch MapBuilder tool, powered by ArcGIS. The Atlas brings together publicly available data sets as well as national level data. While many publicly sourced datasets were global in coverage, national-level datasets were largely shared by partners under different data-sharing agreements. Data sharing partners include the University of Hyderabad, the IUCN, Bharti Institute of Public Policy at the Indian School of Business and the Land Conflict Watch. The Atlas has been developed with guidance from a technical working group that comprises leading organisations and experts in the environment and development fields. The methodology was extensively reviewed by experts within WRI as well as members of the technical working group.

A methodological note which details the architecture of the Restoration Opportunities Atlas, the different data sets underpinning each of its different spatial layers, and the assumptions embedded in the analysis can be found here.
